The Maurice J. Nelson collection contains photocopies of newspaper clippings and articles written by Nelson. The news clippings provide information on Nelson's childhood in Hutchinson, Minnesota and the naming of Nelson Hall at Mankato State College in May 1968. Other items related to the college include his account after witnessing the fire at Old Main on 5 February 1922, and a biographical sketch of Nelson presented at his retirement in May 1959. Documentation of his efforts to establish a youth center named the Alpine Attic in Mankato are also included.
